FAQ
What is HRC-404?
HRC-404 is a hybrid token standard on the HyperEVM blockchain. It combines features of fungible tokens (like ERC-20) and non-fungible tokens (like ERC-721), allowing tokens to switch between being divisible (fungible) and unique (non-fungible) based on ownership levels. This enables fractional ownership of unique assets.
How does HRC-404 work?
HRC-404 tokens operate in two states:
Fungible: When you own less than one whole token, it acts as a fractional share.
Non-Fungible: When you own one or more whole tokens, a unique NFT is minted for you. The token transitions between these states automatically as your balance changes, with NFTs minted or burned accordingly.
What are the benefits of using HRC-404?
HRC-404 provides several key advantages:
Fractional Ownership: Makes high-value NFTs accessible by allowing multiple owners.
Increased Liquidity: Fractional tokens can be traded easily on exchanges.
Flexibility: Merges fungible and non-fungible token features into one standard.
Cost-Efficiency: Built for HyperEVM’s low fees and high performance.
How is HRC-404 different from ERC-404?
While similar to ERC-404, HRC-404 is tailored for HyperEVM. It takes advantage of HyperEVM’s high performance and low costs, offering smoother state transitions and potentially unique features like staking or governance, specific to the HyperEVM ecosystem.
Can I trade HRC-404 tokens like regular ERC-20 tokens?
Yes, the fungible portion of HRC-404 tokens (less than one whole token) can be traded on decentralized exchanges like ERC-20 tokens. If you own a whole token, transferring the NFT moves the associated balance too.
How do I mint an HRC-404 token?
Minting happens automatically:
When your balance reaches 1.0 or more, an NFT is minted for you.
If your balance drops below 1.0, the NFT is burned, leaving you with fractional tokens. Developers can find more details in the HRC-404 Smart Contract Documentation.
What happens if I transfer a fraction of my HRC-404 tokens?
Transferring a fraction (e.g., 0.5 HRC-404) works like a fungible token transfer. If your balance falls below 1.0, your NFT is burned. If the recipient’s balance reaches 1.0 or more, they receive a new NFT.
Can I own multiple NFTs with HRC-404?
Yes, each whole token you own mints a unique NFT. For example, owning 3.0 HRC-404 tokens gives you three distinct NFTs.
What are the gas costs for HRC-404 operations?
Gas costs are low due to HyperEVM’s efficiency. Operations like transfers, minting, and burning are affordable, though exact costs vary with network conditions.
